I've been extremely lucky to have been taught the basics of DIY and handiwork and, over the years, I have realised many of my friends have not had that knowledge handed down to them. I am by no means a designer but I do enjoy a bit of practical home improvement and I'd like to share how easy this can be (mostly to save you a quid or two but also, no contractor you employ to do work for you will put half as much care into a job in your home as you will, so you'll also get a better quality finish in whatever you do)!
